Car Boot Sale Season Ends

Saturday 30th July 2011 marks the end of the 10 consecutive Saturday Car Boot Sale's which were ran by the staff and cadet team of 184 (Manchester South) Squadron. This is one of many activities that the Squadron run to provide a voluntary community work for the public and service to others. Alongside the spectacular weather, the cadets and the public enjoyed themselves with the bargains and sun tans that they have caught.

The effort and involvement of the cadets has enabled us to have a smoothly running event, there were up to 250 cars in a hot day and they were responsible to neatly and safely marshall cars to their alloted pitch. These events showed our enthusiasm and ability to work together as a team. With great assistance from the cadets of 174 (Manchester) Squadron, it has made every event very efficient by having more numbers of volunteers both staff and cadets. The funds which are collected directly affect the squadrons Adventure Training Scheme's; for instance the activities that are costly may be subsidised or paid for depending on availability. A percentage of the funds as a sign of gratitude and appreciation is given to 174 Squadron that go towards their development in any areas required.

From the whole experience cadets have developed skills such as Marshalling and Inter-Personal Speaking skills to the public. These events are ran by volunteers from when it is being set up from 6:30 in the morning onwards, until the
end of the afternoon's FOD Plod (Litter picking). Cadets, staff and Civilian Committee members find themselves with plenty of things that need to be done. Every little thing which each person does in any these events makes up and completes 'the big picture' of having a successful Car Boot. They are all very much appreciated especially to those who have organised the paper works for the event. Thank you very much to the cadets, volunteers and staff who participated in these event as the outcome of having funds will soon take direct effect to the Squadron and cadet activities.

The Car Boot Sale Season is not back until late July and August 2012.
